Excellent post. There is nothing to be gained from dividing ourselves against each other. We don't expect to find denominational neighborhoods in heaven, so why live like that on earth?

I do think pastors could use a year working out in business before leading a church in order to 1) understand what their congregants/volunteers live are like and 2) learn the principles of good organization, discipline, professionalism, budgeting, time management etc. (things that pastors are often notoriously bad at). I know. I married one.

nice last pic, the man reaching up to the golden dawn. So yes, a change in life, a time for new activities.

"Because I was tired of being trapped and confined behind the walls of the institutionalized church. It has been my experience that churches will do almost anything to avoid following Jesus."

that's a deep comment.

"Structures, programs, activities, fellowship dinners, meetings, etc. all designed to keep the congregation locked behind the doors of the church."

organised religion, is, for a large part, about controlling activities and funnelling opinion. The individuality that is inherent in all of us is often squelched and smothered.

"Well, no more. Not for me. I’ve scaled the walls, taken a giant leap of faith and proclaimed my freedom."

brave! a new chapter in life! go well, go strong. I totally feel the fire in your life.

This story amazed me. I mean to be so intimately connected with such a tragedy is really some perspective. I love it that so many "unlikely heroes" would step up and step in to help. That's when I am sure that there is much that is "right" with our world.

Thanks for sharing this.
